Our Founder and CEO attended an event at TechHub Manchester which is a close knit community of Tech Entrepreneurs who share workspace and resources during their start up phases. At the event, a number of members including the Co-Founder Ben Hookway, were present as were other entrepreneurs and professionals.
Being discussed was the tax advantages open to investors and how to make and prepare a business for raising finance from business angels and such investors. First to speak was Simon Wallwork, one of Manchesters most experienced Corporate Lawyers and Partner with Weightmans LLP. He discussed the potential pitfalls and hoops a business owner or entrepreneur might have to jump through before inviting investment from a third party.
Second to speak was Laura Hutchinson who is a Chartered Tax Advisor and Partner with boutique tax advisory firm, Forbes Dawson LLP. She discussed and presented the significant tax advantages of the SEIS and EIS schemes and what is included and what is not. Third to speak but not least Hugh Campbell, a Partner with Investment Bank, GP Bullhound LLP spoke about early stage investment and likely sources of finances.
The event was really informative and the calibre of people, excellent. After the event it was great to network and chat with a number of the entrepreneurs based in Manchester and how they saw prospects for their businesses both locally and of course globally. Strategically Impetus is aligned with fast growth companies and entrepreneurs as well as the professionals that represent and act for them. It also helps to connect to potential sources when it comes time for us to roll out our technology based offering in the latter half of this year.
